Hand block printed red cotton wrap skirt with Luchadors pockets
*NOTE* this skirt is ONE of a KIND... (unless I ever make this exact style again.. which is doubtful.)-- it's available in SMALL ONLY. Please review the information carefully!
Please reference size chart to help you figure out what will work for you.
Skirts are 27" long.
A comfortable, super flattering, wrap around skirt made with 100%, light cotton. This style has 4 flat pleats to give the skirt a little poof in order to make room for the fun pockets on the front! The red is a pretty, mellow red, it's not a screaming red (think brick, not tomato), but it's still saucy. I block printed 2 different luchador masks (Mexican wrestlers) for the pockets, and printed a row of stars all along the hemline. It's part super hero, part party skirt, part bad ass. The inks used for the printing are made for fabrics and heat set to withstand washing. The fabric was pre-washed to give it extra softness and to assure that it will not shrink with future washings. *care instructions below
Block printing is done by hand and each printing is unique. Block printing is a method where I carve a soft rubber in relief- meaning, the design is made so that the ink adheres only to the parts I leave, the rest is carved away. I purposely leave some of the markings around the design so that the ink picks them up and gives the image more visual interest.
I chose to make wrap skirts because they're flattering and easy to keep in your closet through some minor size changes! The waist will grow or shrink with you- just tie it to fit and you're good to go.
Care for this skirt is fairly easy. Best case scenario, you hand wash it and hang to dry, ironing with a cotton setting using a press cloth or ironing from the back. This will extend the life of the garment just as any hand washed clothing will last longer.
However, it is possible to machine wash, separate, cold, mild detergent, tumble dry low, iron as above! Life should be easy when you can make it, do what helps you achieve that!
