About me

Liz Potter

My first trip to West Texas was a couple years ago, and from the minute I turned off I-10 headed towards Alpine, I was in love and knew my life was changing directions. This year I took my skills from my other business, Bolsa Bonita, and applied them to a new one– one where I can explore other forms of creative expression influenced heavily by the Big Bend region.

I started my purse making business a couple decades ago and have happily built it into something that helps support launching this new venture. With A Wonderful Adventure I'm taking myself on a creative adventure – sharing my love of film photography, and using the imagery of the flora and fauna of the Chihuahuan desert through block printing, screen printing, and handmade purses.

My background includes fine art, photography, and a grandmother who taught me to sew when I was very young. I started college in fine art, but eventually switched over to photography and graduated from UT Austin with a degree in photojournalism. I still shoot film and process and print my photos in a traditional wet darkroom.

I make everything myself in my messy little studio and work tirelessly so that I can take off a week at a time every few months to enjoy some big sky, the smell of creosote, quietness, solitude, and hopefully some jackrabbits and other critters out in the desert.

If you're not already on a life adventure, it's not too late. It's never too late. It doesn't have to be big, it just has to feel thrilling on some level. Be curious, have fun, do what you love, find people you love. Thanks for visiting my site, I hope you find something that inspires you to have a good time!
