Big Bend Bluebonnet relief print on 12x18 paper
Bluebonnets are the state flower of Texas and down in the far reaches of West Texas, they're absurdly tall. Everything is big in Texas, and giant in West Texas! I carved this two-color relief print to match the size of the other 12x18 prints in case you want to have a collection of desert plants that go together! The black and blue parts are hand pressed relief prints, and the golden yellow parts are hand painted. This makes each print slighly different.
I used water-based ink for the blue and oil based black ink for the main design, and printed on a thick, acid-free, watercolor paper that's 12" wide and 18 inches long. It's a good standard size so you can easily pick up a frame to put it in (see photos for a great example that won't break the bank).
*A relief print is made using a carved block that was created by carving out the negative space, leaving the positive space to pick up ink to transfer to a surface.
Prints are mailed flat and do not include the frame shown as an example.
