Eleven Inn – Balmorhea, Texas
I traveled once with a friend who introduced me to this place (he was not a camping type)- I was immediately in love. The Eleven Inn is 11 rooms in an old school style motel court, run by the sweetest retired couple. When we called to let them know we were on the way, the wife told us, "We may be eating dinner so just come on in, we'll leave the key for you." Small town trust is something to cherish. Clean, comfortable rooms, with chairs outside to sit and watch the grass grow.
Camera used: Holga
Film: Tmax 400 – 120 roll film
I develop and print all my work in a traditional darkroom first, then scan the final prints and make digital reproductions. The black edge is actually the edges of the film. I print full frame using a negative holder I created in order to show remnants of the medium of film. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoy making the images.
Printed on 100% cotton rag paper, titled and signed on the front with pencil. The paper surface is smooth matte. Image size does not take up the entire size of the paper (please see examples)
