Jackrabbits and flowers on tan vinyl
About that tan vinyl... my supply source no longer carries this color (yes, I'm dismayed", but I do have another vinyl that's more of a stone color that would look really great. If you're interested, please contact me and I can send photos of the vinyls side by side so you can see the color difference.

Not including the strap and lining, the entire bag is made with vinyl- a great alternative to leather. Easy to clean and water resistant if you get caught in the rain, it's a functional bag as well as being cute. Over time, the vinyl will show signs of wear- like anything well loved.
height: 10.5 inches
bottom width: 3.5"
top zipper length = 12"
adjustable strap from 29"–56"
Inspired by German paper cuts (Scherenschnitte), Mexican Papel Picado, and art nouveau stencils, I created designs that reflect the beauty of the desert. I combine simplified representations of plants and animals to make graphic and fun patterns, and use a combination of vinyls – including oil cloth to give more depth.
I hand cut each design and use a method called reverse applique to apply the underlying vinyl.
With a zipper top, 2 deep, open pockets on the back, and two open pockets on the lining, you are sure to get organized! The adjustable strap is made fairly long so you can choose the length that fits your body and preference. I used unbleached cotton for the lining so that it's not like looking into a black pit when you open your bag! It's also very easy to clean by pulling out and hand washing in the sink.
This purse is made with all vinyl- or "vegan leather"- an easy care material chosen because of my love of animals. The original design was handcut and sewn using a reverse applique method where I place other colors and patterns of vinyl under the open cut area and sew around the edges. It has a stencil-like look that I love. Go crazy with this bag- spill stuff on it, take it on a dusty walk down a dirt road, it can handle it.
