Ocotillo on vintage metal
Naturally distressed (ie: old!) galvanized metal
acrylic paints, including a clear coating
wired backing for hanging
I created some work using a few different elements of various mediums: relief printing, screen printing, and hand painting. In order to get a clean image on this old, awesomely beat up metal, I created screens from my block print images so I could screen print onto the surface. I then went in and hand painted the blooms.
This piece is an old metal I hand cut (note: somewhat jagged edges) and then pounded holes to loop a metal wire through to hang on the wall. No framing required, this thing goes straight on your wall!
I sealed the front with a clear, matte finish acrylic to help protect the design, and-- if you really want to-- make it appropriate to hang outside. I would recommend doing this only in a shaded area to prevent fading from the sun.
