Desert Prayer Flags

Dimensions:
Each individual flag is 10 inches long
The length of 8 flags (give or take how they're arranged on the rope) = approx 7 ft (6ft 8 inches if adding up 8 x 10 inches)
* if adding the Marfa flag, the 9 flags will be approx 7.5 feet long
::: length measurement not including the rope ends
Flag sets include: An unbleached cotton rope is threaded through the flags with loops tied on the end to hang. These are very lightweight, all it takes indoors is a thumbtack. They can be re-threaded onto a rope or cording you prefer- the flags are sewn in a row to help them stay together during strong wind!
The fabric is polyester chiffon, a feather-light textile that is semi-transparent and tough. I left the edges raw to keep the lightness of the flags, but also to naturally fray over time. The inner edges are treated with a clear "fray stopper" so that the fraying doesn't get too out of hand. The flags can be hung indoors or outside- even in rain and sun. The filmy polyester dries out with just a breath of a breeze.
I designed these images using the relief prints I've made of desert plants and animals, and created a border inspired by the hand-painted designs over doorways in Mexico, traditional Western style, paisley bandanas, and added an agave since the plant is so graphic and adds to the desert theme.
If you want to add a Marfa water tower flag, use the pull-down menu to choose it and I'll add it right in the middle, where the pale blue color will look great with its surrounding colors. It's a $5 additional cost.
Traditional Tibetan prayer flags are used to promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom. Fabric flags carry prayers and mantras, blown by the wind to spread goodwill across the land. My version of this is embracing the love so many people share of the flora and fauna of the West Texas high desert, the love of open spaces, big skies, and road trips that take you on lonely highways. These colorful bandana designs are meant to be strung up to let the wind carry the good vibes of peace, protection, love of life and wild spaces.
